Since everything's thawed out I tried a route I've always wanted to
From home I pedaled to the Umtanum Trailhead
http://www.bentler.us/eastern-washington/recreation/umtanum-creek.aspx
From the road that path to the right looks walkable
And it was but barely, and at this point I wanted to turn around
But it was too steep, and I knew as the crow flies
I was less than a mile from it flattening out.
Still kinda of a crappy feeling, a little scary, but I didn't give up!
Finally got to the top and I saw the only company till home
You can see the trail
still on the trail
This panoramic is one of my favorites. I am really glad I kept pushing.
still more trail
trail the other direction
Really cool bulldozer on my way out, right before Durr Rd.
Another owl nest off Umptanum Rd.
This was the first attempt at this route. No backtracking,
but it would be a lot more enjoyable the other direction.
UPDATE - here's the route http://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/view/1021505167
